What is the commencement of business?



The certificate of commencement of business is the declaration filed by the company’s CEO or directors with the registrars, at the time of commencement of business. Under the new companies (Amendment) Ordinance 2018, has introduced commencement of business.

Commencement of business is important to obtaining the certificate where you are allowed to start business relevant activities. There are certain rules and regulations, need to follow while establishing everything and anything.

Ministry of corporate launches forms 20 A which can see directly on the official website. Commencement of business obtaining the steps you need to follow between running and registering your business. Also, it is a mandatory step until the companies Act, 2015 was begun.

The certificate is obtained within 180 days from the date of certification incorporation and Eform has to be filed concerned ROC.


Steps to obtaining a certificate of commencement

1. Visit the MCA portal directly

2. Once you are there MCA portal > MCA Services > Company forms download.

3. Once you hit all the above options, you will be redirected to all the forms > Scroll down till the tick you find the tab of ‘Form INC-20A.

4. Download the form > open and fill the form

5. mention all the details correctly

  • Valid email address

  • CIN of the company

  • Full address of the company: registered address

  • Full name of the company

Document required for certificate of commencement form

1. Corporate Identification Number of the company

2. Name of the company

3. Registered office address

4. Email ID of the company
